Job Description
The Golf Course Superintendent has primary responsibility to ensure the overall quality and condition of the 36-hole Ohio State University Golf Club. It is to be maintained in a manner to provide the highest level of quality and enjoyment for student-athletes, club members and guests. This position is responsible for the management and coordination of all maintenance programs and construction projects for the golf course, golf course facilities and grounds; the selection, training and supervision of the golf course operation staff; maintaining golf courses within budgetary guidelines; work with golf club staff in the coordination of events; keep abreast of current innovations in turf management and establish record keeping systems for maintenance scheduling, man-hour accounting, preventive maintenance of equipment, inventory control, pesticide applications, fertilizations, etc.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree may be desirable. 5 years of relevant experience required. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred. Possess a working knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices and methods and a thorough understanding of the rules ands strategies of the game of golf. Minimum of five years experience in the area of golf course management and supervisory responsibility. Pesticide applicator license in category 8 (turf) and category 3 (aquatics).
Desired Qualifications
PGA Tour, USGA, OGA, and/or NCAA experience. Experience working with collegiate teams and coaches. Experience collaborating with turfgrass professors with research projects on and off the course.
