Job summary

Columbus Consolidated Government is seeking a skilled golf course maintenance supervisor to oversee daily upkeep and overall course condition. You will coordinate with the Director of Golf, Head Golf Professional, and Superintendent, and lead the crew in maintenance tasks and safety practices.

The role includes managing irrigation and turfgrass programs, planning and training staff, and ensuring top playing conditions. A pesticide license is required or must be obtained.

Qualifications

• Experience in golf course maintenance operations.
• Completion of an apprenticeship/internship or similar position.
• Must have, or be able to obtain, a pesticide license for chemical applications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily maintenance and overall condition of the golf course.
• Maintain frequent communication with the Director of Golf / Head Golf Professional and Golf Course Superintendent about activities, goals, plans, and customer impact.
• Supervise and maintain irrigation, drainage, and other water-related systems.
• Assist with planning, scheduling, instructing, training, and directing crew in maintenance procedures and duties.
• Remain capable to assume management responsibilities in the Superintendent's absence.
• Ensure the golf course is maintained to the highest level of quality turf and playing conditions.
• Communicate with customers, coworkers, and the management team.
• Be able to communicate maintenance practices and turf care topics as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Manage Ultra-dwarf bermuda grass and other grasses used on the course.
• Insect, weed, and disease management.
• Agronomy and turf grass management practices.
• Irrigation systems operation and repair.
• Rules and strategies of the game of golf.
• Golf facility construction principles, practices, and methods.
• Current federal and state laws for pesticide applications.
• Be aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns.
