Twice in Glenside, PA is seeking a qualified Superintendent of Golf Course Maintenance to support the Director and 1st Assistant Superintendent in day-to-day operations for an 18-hole course. You will develop maintenance programs, oversee budgets, irrigation systems, and staff.

The role emphasizes maintaining high standards, regulatory compliance, and staff safety training while collaborating with the Head Golf Professional to balance member play with maintenance schedules.

Qualifications

  • Associates or bachelor's degree in Turf Management or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of Golf Course Maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 1 year budgeting experience for golf course/landscape dept.
  • 1 year knowledge of equipment, products and resources used in golf operations.
  • Current State Pesticide Applicators License or must obtain within 90 days.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Understanding of business administration and golf course operations.
  • Direct supervisory experience preferred with confidentiality

Responsibilities

  • Provide agronomic oversight for grasses, trees, wetlands, and other plant materials.
  • Supervise chemical applications and record-keeping, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of golf course mechanical equipment; budget for replacement.
  • Maintain the golf course to high standards per guidelines.
  • Control expenses and adhere to the budget.
  • Coordinate with the Head Golf Professional to optimize rounds around member plays and events.
  • Communicate with members to exceed expectations.
  • Train staff on OSHA, safety, and state/federal guidelines.
  • Provide ongoing training for staff on safety and compliance.
  • Lead meetings on club operations, maintenance schedules, safety protocols, and environmental concerns.

Overview

The Superintendent is responsible for supporting the Director Golf Course Maintenance with the 1st Assistant Superintendent with day-to-day operations. The responsibilities include developing and managing turf grass and plant material maintenance programs; overseeing property and asset management; managing personnel; handling budgeting, forecasting, and financial management; participating in member retention initiatives; scheduling and maintaining irrigation systems; applying pesticides and maintaining related records; and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements. The job's oversight is limited to a single 18-hole operation.

Experience Required
  • An associates and/or bachelor's degree in Turf Management or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Golf Course Maintenance.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in preparing and managing budgets for the golf course and landscape maintenance departments.
  • A minimum of 1 year of technical knowledge of all equipment, products, and resources related to golf course operations with the ability to implement these resources to meet or exceed company and club standards.
  • Current State Pesticide Applicators License or successfully completed within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Thorough knowledge of general business administration practices and golf course operations practices and procedures.
  • Direct supervisory experience preferred with proven ability to maintain confidentiality of Club, Company, and personnel information.

  • Provide ongoing technical, operational, and safety training for staff, fostering a culture of compliance and safety.
  • Lead and participate in meetings to discuss club operations, maintenance schedules, safety protocols, and environmental concerns.
