Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks an Engineer or Principal Engineer, Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC), to support the Core Vehicle Management System (CoreVMS) team in San Diego, CA. Hybrid work schedule available from a commutable distance from primary office in San Diego/ Rancho Bernardo CA.

The candidate will advance GNC methods, tools, and processes, modernize a common Simulink-based implementation, and contribute to proposal development and project startup activities

Qualifications

Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 2 years of experience or a Master's in STEM with no experience
Bachelor's in STEM and at least 5 years of experience, a Master's with 3 years, or a PhD with 0 years
Proficient with Matlab and Simulink
Knowledge of C/C++ and Python
Knowledge of flight sciences, control law development, or control system analysis

Responsibilities

Design, develop, implement, verify, and test algorithms, software, and simulation tools
Develop control laws to meet air vehicle performance, flying qualities, and stability margin requirements
Develop linear and nonlinear dynamic simulation models and integrate them into software and hardware in the loop environments
Perform nonlinear 6DOF simulation analysis
