Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a GNC Engineer: Autopilot (Level 3/4) in Chandler, AZ. This 100% onsite role involves developing, verifying, and testing 6DOF simulation models and software used to evaluate missile flight code and system performance.

You will bring deep expertise in missile dynamics, guidance algorithms, autopilot design, and control systems, with hands-on work in C++, MATLAB, and Python within a Linux environment. Mentoring is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5 years of professional experience or Master's with 3 years (PhD with 1 year) or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
• Experience designing, tuning, and testing missile guidance algorithms and autopilot parameters.
• Experience designing missile autopilot systems with multiple control schemes and stability analysis.
• Proficiency with C++, MATLAB, and Python toolchains in Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, verify, and test software and simulation toolchains.
• Create and maintain 6DOF simulation models to evaluate missile systems.
• Design and test missile guidance algorithms and autopilot parameters.
• Develop missile autopilot and control-system solutions with stability analysis.
• Apply missile flight dynamics and control theory to guided missiles and interceptors.
• Build and maintain analysis tools using C++, MATLAB, and Python.
• Travel up to 10% as needed to support program activities.
• Mentor and provide guidance to early-career engineers.
