Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. offers a paid 12-week Summer Internship Program in California for students pursuing STEM degrees. Interns work hands-on on GN&C, flight testing, software and hardware projects, gaining exposure to flight control systems and system integration.

The role provides mentorship from experienced engineers in a fast-paced R&D environment and may include relocation and housing reimbursement for eligible candidates. applicants must meet GPA and eligibility requirements.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM field related to GN&C or aerospace engineering.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA; junior level or above preferred.
  • Willing to relocate for internship; relocation/housing stipend possible.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and willing to travel domestically (10–20%).
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in design and development of GN&C systems for aircraft projects.
  • Support system testing, including SIL/HIL environments and basic flight test prep.
  • Help implement and test basic flight control algorithms under supervision.
  • Participate in subsystem integration and data analysis activities.
  • Support engineering documentation and report writing.
  • Collaborate with engineering and test teams to troubleshoot and validate solutions.
  • Learn and apply flight systems engineering processes and tools.
