Job summary

Merck & Co. is seeking a Technician (Technical) in our North Carolina manufacturing facility. The role focuses on operating and maintaining packaging equipment, following GMPs and SOPs, and addressing technical issues to ensure safe, efficient production of high-quality products.

The position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure. It involves routine and non-routine maintenance, line clearance, and collaboration with the Operations Manager

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• More than 2 years of experience in a GMP manufacturing facility.
• Experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and/or repairing industrial equipment.
• Basic mechanical and electrical system understanding.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment using a systematic approach.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as a team member.
• Demonstrated ability to work with computerized and automated systems.
• Able to lift 50 lbs and work various shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain manufacturing and packaging equipment to routinely achieve production standards while following GMPs and SOPs.
• Complete line clearance, cleaning and inspection, including required documentation.
• Set up and adjust equipment using appropriate tools for proper alignment and clearances.
• Transport and organize processing equipment, materials, and products for production.
• Perform and document equipment challenges per current procedures.
• Conduct in-process testing and inspections supporting manufacturing and packaging, validation, and development.
• Respond to equipment malfunctions, diagnose issues, and restore operation.
• Escalate unresolved issues per guidelines to maintain efficiency.
• Identify potential production issues and assist maintenance with preventive tasks.
• Clean and lubricate machines; organize the work area to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Support site mission by ensuring finished goods meet quality, cost, and timing goals.
