Job summary

Crowell & Moring LLP seeks a highly qualified Associate or Counsel to join its International Trade practice in Washington, DC or New York office. Candidates must have 3-6 years of experience counseling clients on U.S. export controls matters, with emphasis on EAR and ITAR.

The ideal candidate will have experience with BIS licensing, CJ/CCATS filings, and encryption/ emerging tech considerations; must be a member of the state bar and possess strong writing and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience counseling clients on U.S. export controls, EAR/ITAR.
• Experience with BIS license applications and related filings is a plus.
• Strong writing and analytical skills; excellent academic credentials.

Responsibilities

• Provide regulatory and compliance guidance on EAR/ITAR and related regimes.
• Perform jurisdiction and classification analysis, including CJ/CCATS filings.
• Assist with licensing, licensing exemptions, and regulatory inquiries.
• Develop export controls programs and provide training to clients.
• Represent clients in self-disclosures, diligence, and investigations.
