An Am Law 100 law firm is seeking an experienced Counsel or SeniorAssociate-level Export Controls attorney to join its International Tradepractice in Washington, DC.

Thesuccessful candidate will have at least five years of substantial experience, including directly advising and counseling clients on U.S. export controls matters ,with particular emphasis on the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) andInternational Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) .

Thisposition is particularly well suited for an attorney who has developedmeaningful experience serving as a day-to-day legal and regulatory advisor tocompanies navigating sophisticated export control requirements. Candidatesshould be comfortable providing practical, business-oriented guidance regardingthe application of U.S. export control regulations to clients' operations,technologies, transactions, and compliance obligations.

RepresentativeExperience

• Advising clients regarding the EAR, ITAR, and related export controlrequirements
• Providing ongoing regulatory and compliance counseling on export controlmatters
• Conducting jurisdiction and classification analyses
• Advising regarding encryption, emerging technologies, and controlledtechnologies
• Obtaining BIS and DDTC export licenses and analyzing available licenseexceptions and exemptions
• Counseling non-U.S. companies regarding the extraterritorial impact andapplication of U.S. export controls
• Conducting or supervising restricted-party screening and export-control duediligence
• Preparing DDTC registrations and related regulatory filings
• Developing risk-based international trade and export-control complianceprograms
• Developing and providing export-control compliance training
• Advising and representing clients in connection with voluntaryself-disclosures
• Conducting export-control diligence in connection with M&A transactions
• Performing internal investigations and compliance audits involving potentialexport-control issues

Qualifications

Candidatesmust have:

• 5+ years of relevant legal experience
• Significant experience directly counseling clients on U.S. export controlsmatters
• Substantial working knowledge of the EAR and ITAR
• Strong legal research, analytical, drafting, and communication skills
• Excellent academic credentials
• Membership in the District of Columbia Bar or eligibility for immediatewaiver into the DC Bar
