Job summary

Vertex is seeking a Director, Global Trade Compliance to own and execute global trade processes and systems across all geographies. You will lead a team to interpret US/EU/UK requirements, drive strategic solutions, and oversee import/export activities including tariffs, origin, licenses, and duty programs.

You will collaborate with Legal, Tax, Finance, and Operations to monitor regulatory changes, optimize costs, and advance governance models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree inInternational Trade, Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in global trade compliance in pharma or life sciences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own global trade compliance processes and systems.
• Interpret and implement US/EU/UK trade requirements; identify best-practice solutions.
• Oversee import/export declarations, tariff classification, origin, licenses, and duty programs.
• Lead governance with stakeholders across Supply Chain, Legal, Tax, Finance, and DTE.
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess impacts with Government Affairs.
• Optimize tariffs and duty costs across end-to-end supply chains; manage programs.
• Set priorities based on business needs and resource availability.
• Oversee managed service providers, brokers, and subject-matter experts.
• Develop KPIs and CAPA processes to drive improvements.
• Partner with Senior Director to shape global strategy and governance.
