Job summary

SpaceX seeks a Global Trade Compliance Counsel to serve as the subject matter expert for export controls across launch, satellite, and AI programs. This attorney will provide critical support for ITAR and EAR compliance and help oversee SpaceX's global trade policies and procedures.

The role is based in Starbase, TX, and will lead the Global Trade Compliance Team, collaborating with internal partners and regulators to draft policies, manage licenses, and drive continuous improvement in

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• 3+ years in a corporate legal department or law firm advising on U.S. federal regulatory matters, including export controls and sanctions.
• Experience drafting advisory opinions to U.S. State/Commerce/Treasury and other agencies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance concerning ITAR and EAR export controls for SpaceX programs.
• Drive growth and improvement of the export compliance program; draft and update policies and procedures.
• Partner with engineering on jurisdiction and classification for hardware, software, and tech used in rockets and satellites.
• Support engagement with regulators on interpretations and authorizations.
• Prepare and manage export licenses and license exceptions as applicable.
• Lead investigations into potential non-compliance and implement corrective actions.
• Develop strong relationships with internal SpaceX partners and stakeholders.
