Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Counsel, Global Trade Compliance in Hawthorne, CA to serve as a trusted legal advisor on sanctions and export controls for frontier AI services.

You will build scalable trade compliance processes, advise cross-functional teams, review commercial contracts, and coordinate with U.S. government agencies while ensuring ITAR compliance and regulatory alignment across SpaceX's AI/datacenter initiatives.

Qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school and bar admission in good standing.
• 5+ years of trade compliance experience (sanctions and export controls).

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on OFAC sanctions and BIS export controls for AI services and datacenter projects.
• Manage sanctions documentation, training, dashboards, due diligence, and restricted party screening.
• Advise on sanctions terms in commercial contracts and coordinate with U.S. government agencies.
• Investigate potential non-compliance and prepare internal investigation reports for senior management.
• Collaborate with business teams to analyze risks and develop scalable compliance processes.
