Job summary

Recurrent Energy, part of Canadian Solar, seeks a Manager, Technical Accounting to join its Global Finance team. This role leads US GAAP technical research, develops accounting policies, and supports North America close and reporting with a focus on complex transactions.

Ideal candidates have a CPA (US or Canada), 7+ years of accounting experience with at least 3 in technical accounting, and Big Four experience. Hybrid work arrangement in the US or Canada.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in technical accounting and/or financial reporting.
• U.S. or Canadian CPA designation required.
• Big Four public accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead U.S. GAAP technical accounting research on complex matters related to the renewable energy business.
• Prepare clear, comprehensive technical accounting memos with well-supported conclusions and audit-defensible rationale.
• Interpret U.S. GAAP guidance and determine the appropriate accounting and reporting treatment for new, material, or unusual transactions.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in response to evolving business needs and changes in accounting standards.
• Provide technical accounting support during monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, particularly in areas involving significant judgments and estimates.
• Serve as a technical accounting resource to finance and accounting teams across the organization.
• Collaborate with Project Finance, Legal, Tax, FP&A, and other functional teams to assess the accounting implications of new transactions and initiatives prior to execution.
• Support accounting-related due diligence requests.
• Partner with FP&A to incorporate current business models and assumptions into accounting analyses and financial reporting.
• Work directly with external auditors and advisors on technical accounting matters.
• Develop technical accounting training materials for the broader Finance organization and non-finance stakeholders.
• Promote technical excellence, intellectual curiosity, and continuous improvement within the technical accounting function.
