Job summary

PayPal Inc. is seeking an experienced Tax Counsel - Information Reporting to ensure global information reporting and withholding tax compliance across products and processes.

The role will involve evaluating new products, applying FATCA/CRS/CARF/1099 policies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement robust policies. You will advise product development partners, draft business requirements, and review contract language related to information reporting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years relevant tax experience and a JD or foreign equivalent.
• Admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage significant tax matters.

Responsibilities

• Independently advises on complex tax issues affecting business operations, transactions, and strategic initiatives.
• Develops and documents technical tax analyses supporting planning strategies, reporting positions, audit defense, and regulatory compliance.
• Partners with business units and Finance leadership to structure initiatives in a tax-efficient and compliant manner.
• Identifies tax risk exposures and mitigates risk consistent with PayPal's risk tolerance.
• Coordinates with outside advisors and manages external engagements.
• May mentor junior attorneys or legal professionals and contribute to knowledge development within the tax function.
