Job summary

Ookla, an Accenture company, seeks a Site Reliability Engineer to join the Platform and SRE team in Denver. You will build, maintain, and operate a massive-scale, distributed infrastructure serving hundreds of millions of users worldwide, focusing on performance, scalability, reliability, observability, and security.

Qualifications

• 4+ Years Systems/Platform engineering experience.
• Experience building globally-distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of security best practices.
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation.
• Source code configuration management: Git, Github.
• Configuration management like Chef or Ansible.
• Container architectures: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in one or more languages (TypeScript, Go, Python, PHP, Ruby, Java).
• Experience with AWS and other cloud platforms.
• Comfort writing SQL queries and analyzing performance.
• Comfortable learning new technologies in a changing environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong time management and self-driven work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining a distributed, global ecosystem of cloud instances and infrastructure.
• Maintaining transactional databases with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and RDS/Aurora.
• Supporting NoSQL stores like DynamoDB and MongoDB.
• Building data streams with Kinesis or Kafka.
• Supporting data engineering and big data toolchains like Spark.
• On-call production systems in a 24x7x365 environment.
• Providing architectural and operational support to engineers.
• Guiding operational best practices for software and data teams.
• Implementing security programs including vulnerability remediation and patch management.
• Supporting deployment pipelines for production apps.
• Providing tooling and guidance for monitoring and observability.
• Assisting development teams with troubleshooting.
