Job summary

Ookla, an Accenture company, is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join the Platform and SRE team. You will build, maintain, and operate a massive-scale infrastructure used by hundreds of millions of users worldwide, focusing on performance, reliability, observability, and security.

Responsibilities include managing global cloud infrastructure, databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), NoSQL stores (DynamoDB, MongoDB), data streaming (Kinesis/Kafka), and on-call production support, with collaboration

Qualifications

• 4+ years of systems/platform engineering experience.
• Experience building globally distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of security best practices.
• IaC with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Git/GitHub for configuration management.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in one or more high-level languages (Python, Go, Java, etc.).
• Experience with AWS and other cloud platforms.
• Ability to write SQL and analyze query performance.
• Excellent communication and self-driven work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a distributed, global cloud infrastructure handling billions of requests.
• Manage transactional DBs such as MySQL and PostgreSQL; use RDS/Aurora as needed.
• Support NoSQL stores like DynamoDB and MongoDB.
• Build and support streaming with Kafka or Kinesis.
• Support production systems 24x7x365, including on-call duties.
• Provide architectural guidance to software engineers and data teams.
• Lead operational best practices and monitoring/observability tooling.
• Collaborate with security teams on vulnerability remediation and patching.
