Job summary

Johnson & Johnson's DePuy Synthes division seeks an experienced Senior Tax Director, Compensation & Benefits to provide high-level tax and legal guidance on worldwide employee compensation and benefit plans. The role reports to the VP Tax and supports governance, compliance, and strategic transactions across the organization.

The successful candidate will have a Juris Doctor, active bar admission, and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a law firm, accounting firm, or major corporation advising

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. state or DC.
• Minimum 10 years advising on employee compensation & benefits tax and legal matters.
• Strong knowledge of Internal Revenue Code provisions for employee compensation and ERISA.
• Experience with compensation and benefits in mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
• Excellent business partnering, communication, and ability to explain technical matters to management.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical tax and legal counsel on design, administration, and governance of employee compensation and benefit plans.
• Advise on U.S. federal tax requirements for retirement plans, equity compensation, and welfare benefits.
• Counsel leaders on ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and fiduciary requirements.
• Provide tax and benefits advice in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, and related due diligence and integration/separation planning.
• Coordinate payroll tax withholding, reporting, and plan asset investments as needed.
• Support documentation and governance materials for compensation and benefit arrangements.
• Advise fiduciaries and stakeholders on plan asset investments and prohibited transactions.
• Monitor developments and translate into practical guidance for management.
• Coordinate with outside counsel and experts to deliver timely solutions.
