Job summary

HIAS seeks a Vice President, Global Safety and Security to lead safety strategy and operational security across HIAS globally, advising executives and strengthening executive protection measures. The role involves hands-on support, risk assessments, and policy development for HIAS offices in the US and worldwide.

Based at HQ in Silver Spring, MD or in New York, NY, the role may consider remote work for applicants outside commuting distance. Salary range is $140,323–$160,000.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred.
• Significant leadership experience in security management within a complex global humanitarian or related organization.
• Experience managing security in insecure or hostile environments is highly valued.
• Fluent in written and spoken English; Spanish and/or French a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead global safety and security leadership for HIAS, mentoring HQ and country office staff.
• Advise executive leadership and Crisis Management Team on safety metrics, trends, and preparedness.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures for safety and security management.
• Collaborate with People Operations, programs, and external partners to embed safety in program design and grant proposals.
• Provide security expertise, assessments, and action planning across HIAS offices worldwide.
