Job summary

HIAS is seeking a Vice President, Business Development to drive institutional revenue growth, diversify funding, and support long-term sustainability. This senior role partners with programs, finance, and external relations to secure foundations, corporations, governments, and multilateral support.

The position can be based at HIAS headquarters in Silver Spring, MD, our New York office, or be remote for applicants outside commuting distance to these locations.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred in International Relations or related social science.
• 10+ years in institutional development or fundraising, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record of securing major institutional investments and strategic donor partnerships.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication; experience with a CRM and data analysis.
• Experience in refugee assistance or international development a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategies to grow institutional revenue and diversify funding.
• Lead and mentor a high-performing business development team across regions.
• Foster strategic partnerships with foundations, corporations, governments, and multilateral donors.
• Provide data-driven insights to inform executive decisions and budgeting.
• Ensure proposals, donor deliverables, and compliance meet high standards.
