Job summary

HIAS Inc. seeks a strategic and hands-on leader for the global safety and security function. The role oversees safety governance, risk management and incident response across the US and worldwide, collaborating with People & Culture, Programs and external partners to protect staff and beneficiaries.

The position is based at HIAS headquarters in Silver Spring, MD or HIAS New York, NY, with a remote option for eligible applicants outside commuting distance to offices and in states HIAS operates in.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree (or extensive highly relevant work experience) required; graduate degree in relevant field preferred.
• Significant practical experience in security management with leadership in a complex global organization.
• Extensive work experience in complex, insecure environments and in country offices.
• Experience and understanding of executive protection.
• High degree of empathy and a people-centered approach.
• Strong understanding of cyber, online and physical security intersections.

Responsibilities

• Lead global safety and security at HIAS, advising executive leadership and ensuring safety best practices.
• Provide ongoing support to focal points, Country Directors and staff worldwide.
• Report on safety metrics and trends to executives and stakeholders.
• Advise Crisis Management Team and maintain readiness of policies and processes.
