Job summary

HIAS is seeking a Vice President, Global Safety and Security to lead safety and security management across the organization, advising executive leadership and coordinating with internal and external partners. The role focuses on policy development, risk awareness, and proactive security measures in the US and globally.

The position is based at HIAS headquarters in Silver Spring, MD or office in New York, NY with remote options for qualifying applicants outside commuting distance.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred.
• Significant leadership experience in security management within a global humanitarian or related organization.
• Experience managing security in complex, insecure environments.
• Experience in executive protection and in coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
• Fluent in English; Spanish or French a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead global safety and security across HIAS and affiliates, advising executive leadership.
• Oversee security analysis, travel management, and physical security; report metrics and trends.
• Advise Crisis Management Team; coordinate training and preparedness activities.
• Collaborate with People Operations, Programs and Communications to embed safety into program design.
• Maintain relationships with external agencies, NGOs, and security bodies.
