Job summary

Alarm.com is seeking a Regulatory Compliance Engineer to lead global regulatory and certification strategy for its connected home and security products. You will shape the compliance roadmap, work with labs and regulators, and integrate life-safety, wireless, cybersecurity and environmental standards across hardware and cloud platforms.

You will coordinate with hardware, firmware, and product teams to deliver end-to-end certification programs, including UL/IEC listings and carrier approvals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years in regulatory compliance and hardware product certification within smart home, telecom, security, or related industries.
  • Life-safety and wireless standards expertise (UL, NFPA, FCC, EU) and global regulations.
  • Experience with cybersecurity and privacy regulation in connected devices.
  • Familiarity with carrier certification frameworks (PTCRB, Verizon).
  • Ability to influence cross-functional roadmaps and drive certification programs to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Own the global regulatory and certification strategy for residential and commercial hardware and cloud-integrated systems.
  • Monitor regulatory changes to identify risks and market-entry opportunities early in the product lifecycle.
  • Translate standards into engineering requirements and embed safety, wireless, and environmental standards into design and tests.
  • Lead certification execution end to end — planning EMC/RF and product-safety tests and submitting packages.
  • Serve as liaison with testing laboratories and regulatory bodies and manage carrier certifications.
  • Define and maintain compliant systems, records, and SOPs for engineering teams; ensure audit readiness.
  • Act as SME and mentor engineers across teams.
