Job summary

Alarm.com is seeking a Regulatory Compliance Engineer to lead regulatory strategy across residential and commercial products, including security, video, and cloud-enabled IoT platforms. You will partner with hardware, firmware, and product teams to embed life-safety, wireless, cybersecurity, and environmental standards into product architecture and test plans, driving certifications to market.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years in regulatory compliance and hardware product certification in smart home, telecom, or security.
  • Experience with life-safety and wireless standards (UL, NFPA, FCC, ISED, EU regulations).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity/privacy regulation (EU act, FCC cyber rules).
  • Familiarity with carrier certification (PTCRB, Verizon).
  • Ability to influence roadmaps and lead cross-functional certification programs.

Responsibilities

  • Own global regulatory and certification strategy for hardware and cloud-integrated systems.
  • Monitor regulatory changes to identify risks and market-entry opportunities early.
  • Translate standards into engineering requirements and test plans.
  • Lead end-to-end certification campaigns including UL/fire listings.
  • Liaise with labs (UL, Intertek) and regulators (FCC, ISED, EU).
  • Define and maintain compliance systems and audit readiness.
  • Advise and mentor engineers on compliance matters.
