Job summary

TikTok is seeking a Design Project Intern in San Jose to support our global short-form video product design. You will work on user experiences for TikTok's features, collaborating with PMs, engineers, researchers, and data scientists to turn ideas into concepts and prototypes.

The internship requires currently pursuing BS/MS in Design or HCI, at least 5 months, strong UX/UI foundation, and a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design thinking.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, HCI, Visual Communication, Interaction Design, or related field.
• Available to intern for at least 5 months.
• Strong foundation in UX/UI and interaction design, proficient in design tools such as Figma.
• Portfolio submission required demonstrating end-to-end design thinking, interaction and visual design.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about high-quality user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design user experiences for TikTok's global short-form video products used by millions.
• Transform early-stage ideas into user-centered design solutions through research, prototyping, and iteration.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, and Data Scientists to deliver impactful product experiences.
• Identify user pain points and propose design improvements to enhance usability and engagement.
• Track design outcomes using qualitative and quantitative insights to optimize UX.
• Contribute to the evolution of TikTok’s design standards and product experiences.
