Job summary

3M is seeking a Process Safety Engineer/Specialist to advance global EHS initiatives and strengthen safety standards. You will develop and refine process safety programs, lead hazard assessments, and collaborate with manufacturing teams to reduce risk.

The role requires guiding safety technology, conducting audits, and leading investigations with cross-functional teams worldwide. Travel up to 30% is expected, with on-site work at Maplewood or Austin locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (required).
• Five years of process safety experience (global/site).

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine process safety standards and guidance for topics including emergency preparedness, hot work, mechanical integrity, and change management.
• Lead teams to facilitate process safety and hazard assessment reviews (LOPA, reactive chemical scenarios, MOC).
• Review, support, and implement process safety strategies for HAZOP/LOPA, etc.
• Guide process safety technology to mitigate risks with manufacturing leadership and CAPEX teams.
• Lead investigations and review root causes; share learnings across facilities to prevent incidents.
• Lead or participate in global process safety audits and networks.
