Job summary

Relx Plc in Richmond, VA seeks a Head of Privacy and Data Protection to partner with the Chief Privacy Officer and lead a global privacy programme across regions. The role demands extensive data protection expertise, a privacy law background, and certification (CIPP preferred).

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in data protection and privacy law in commercial environments.
• Proven track record designing privacy, risk, governance, training and awareness programmes.
• Experience applying privacy principles across marketing, sales, e-commerce and digital platforms.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills; able to advocate privacy across the org.
• Fluency in English; a second language and international travel are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Chief Privacy Officer to maintain the global privacy strategy and programme.
• Conduct final reviews of Data Protection Impact Assessments and ensure safeguards are consistently applied.
• Deliver timely privacy advice and training to support business decisions and compliance.
• Lead the Privacy Risk and Governance Programme to ensure effective privacy risk management.
• Mentor privacy SMEs and oversee the Global Rights Centre for efficient handling of rights requests.
• Lead the Privacy Training and Awareness Programme with engaging, accessible content.
• Maintain privacy assessment tools and compliance packs with clear guidance.
