Job summary

Artsy is seeking a People Operations & Payroll Manager to own end-to-end US, UK, and Germany payroll, while expanding into broader HR operations such as immigration, leaves, and HRIS integrity. The role is based in New York with a 3-day in-office requirement and reports to the Associate Director of People Operations.

You will collaborate with a tight-knit team supporting Artsy and Artnet across the US, UK, and Germany, handling payroll cycles, vendor inquiries, and compliance work while growing

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of hands‑on payroll processing experience.
• Experience using AI to work more efficiently, automate repeatable tasks, and decide where human review is still needed.
• Strong attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work.
• Clear written and verbal communication, especially when explaining payroll or HR questions to non‑experts.
• Professional discretion handling confidential employee information.

Responsibilities

• Run payroll for the US, UK, and Germany, including preparing, auditing, and reconciling each cycle.
• Act as the main contact for payroll vendors and for employee payroll questions.
• Process payroll steps for terminations, including final pay, severance, and holiday pay.
• Own global benefits enrollment and invoice audits, and make sure deductions are accurate on payroll.
• Administer leaves of absence from start to finish, including employee communication and return-to-work coordination.
• Manage day-to-day work authorization and immigration cases, including working with outside counsel and keeping employees informed.
• Support compliance work, including research that informs policy updates when we hire in a new location.
• Keep HRIS workflows and integrations (BambooHR, ADP, Lattice) running accurately and on time.
• Handle core HR administration, including employment verifications, unemployment responses, and audit support.
