Job summary

Sony Corporation seeks a Senior Payments Strategist for the Sony Engagement Platform to translate business needs into scalable payment strategies and enable onboarding, provider enablement, and optimization across Sony’s operating companies.

The role collaborates with SIE Global Payments, product, risk, and regional teams to ensure commercially viable and scalable services, with global travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of diverse payments experience in a digital e‑commerce environment with demonstrable results.
• Experience in payment optimization, complex payments contracting, PSP and payment method management and payment operations.
• Strong commercial and analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret payment data and present clear, actionable recommendations.
• Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships across internal teams, external partners or enterprise customers.
• Proficiency using approved AI tools to accelerate analysis, identify patterns, synthesise complex inputs and develop clear recommendations, while validating outputs and applying appropriate judgement around data sensitivity.
• Understanding of cultural and regional differences in attitudes towards online payment systems.
• Network of industry relationships including processors, acquirers, card schemes, alternative payment providers and like‑minded merchants with similar priorities.
• Experience navigating the payment regulatory and card scheme landscape.
• Ability to navigate successfully across complex, geographically and commercially diverse internal operations.
• Ability to deliver high impact, high quality proposals and presentations and confidently lead meetings with senior stakeholders.
• Self‑starter who is solution focused and able to work under their own initiative with little day‑to‑day oversight.
• Experience working under pressure in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
• Desirable: Experience in the videogames industry or digital entertainment industry.
• Desirable: Experience supporting multi‑tenant, platform, marketplace or payment orchestration environments.
• Desirable: Experience working with product, engineering, operations, risk or fraud teams on payments‑related initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Define forward‑looking payment initiatives with SEPS, SIE Global Payments, and operating companies.
• Own payments relationships for Sony operating companies and align with business priorities.
• Support onboarding and readiness for payment assessments, PSP/APM setup, and configuration patterns.
• Develop payment success plans covering onboarding status, risks, and roadmap dependencies.
• Interpret payment performance data and translate into practical recommendations.
• Lead regular payment performance discussions and service reviews with stakeholders.
• Coordinate payment‑related escalations across teams and partners to resolution.
• Advocate for payment optimization opportunities, from quick wins to long‑term projects.
• Represent Sony operating needs in SEPS planning for platform improvements.
• Collaborate with risk, fraud, and data science teams on payments strategy and risk decisions.
• Work with external PSPs, card networks, and issuers; travel may be required.
