Job summary

Merck is seeking an Associate Director of Packaging to lead the definition and execution of packaging strategies that meet global network needs. The role focuses on robust packaging designs, efficient processes, and risk reduction prior to product launch.

The successful candidate will guide packaging designs for primary, secondary, and tertiary systems, including blow-fill-seal technologies, and work across CMC to support development and commercialization of new products.

Qualifications

• BS in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering or similar with 10 years pharma development experience; or MS/PhD with 8 years.
• Understanding of pharmaceutical development process and ability to design, develop, and test packaging components.
• Familiarity with risk assessment tools and regulatory standards for pharmaceutical packaging.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute packaging strategies for global network needs.
• Lead risk assessments, packaging specs, and qualification activities.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and sustainability goals.
• Collaborate across CMC areas and cross-functional teams.
