Job summary

The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. in Blaine, MN is seeking a Director, Global Creative Packaging Design to lead strategic development and execution of primary and secondary packaging for Aveda and Bumble and bumble.

This hybrid role reports to the Vice President, Global Creative and shapes packaging systems, sustainability, and consumer experience across brands, coordinating with Marketing, Product Development, and external partners.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of packaging design experience in beauty, luxury, fashion or consumer goods.
• BA/BFA in Industrial Design, Packaging Design, Graphic Design or related field.
• Strong conceptual thinker with exceptional design sensibility for form, structure, materials, color and storytelling.
• Expertise in packaging architecture and 3D visualization.
• Proven ability to lead projects from concept through production with high craftsmanship.
• Collaborates with Product Development, Packaging Engineering, and Innovation teams.
• Knowledge of tooling, materials, decoration techniques, and production constraints.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and advanced 3D tools; experienced with 3D rendering, prototypes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the creative development and execution of all packaging for Aveda and Bumble and bumble.
• Develop innovative packaging concepts aligned with brand strategy and consumer insights.
• Present concepts via mood boards, sketches, decks, 3D renderings, prototypes and comps.
• Collaborate with Product Development and Innovation teams from concept through commercialization.
• Guide packaging form development, materials, color and tooling requirements.
• Create 3D renderings and structural concepts to visualize opportunities for executive reviews.
• Drive packaging architecture innovation and sustainability initiatives.
• Establish design standards and brand guidelines across product categories.
• Oversee the design/production process for DTOs, artwork, renderings, and final assets.
• Partner with Marketing, Creative, Product Development and external vendors to balance creativity, cost and speed.
• Manage external partners and vendors for packaging innovation and execution.
• Attend press checks and production reviews to ensure high design quality.
• Identify trends in beauty and packaging to inform future opportunities.
• Mentor and develop two direct reports and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
