Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Project Director to lead complex, global oncology trial programs in a full-service CRO setting. The role partners with sponsors to provide strategic project leadership, financial oversight, and process improvements across a portfolio of studies.

You will mentor project managers, drive risk management, ensure quality (eTMF/CTMS), and deliver status updates to Sr. leadership. Domestic and international travel are required, with a permanent position based in Frederick, MD.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of clinical research experience or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of direct project management experience in clinical research, preferably CRO.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary client liaison and lead proposal activities, client presentations, and bid defenses.
• Oversee all aspects of trials or portfolios, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment across studies.
• Mentor project managers and coordinate cross-functional teams to execute plans on time and within budget.
• Manage study budgets, identify out-of-scope work, and drive change orders to completion.
• Develop robust project plans with timelines and risk mitigation strategies.
• Deliver regular status updates to clients and senior management with KPI reporting.
• Lead internal and client meetings, set expectations, and drive portfolio strategies.
