Job summary

JAS Forwarding (USA), Inc. is seeking an Ocean Export Specialist in Charleston, SC to facilitate international shipments and provide top-notch customer service.

You will prepare documentation, coordinate pickups, monitor shipments, and interact with authorities, carriers, and clients to ensure compliant, timely deliveries. The role requires 3–5 years in ocean exports, knowledge of freight forwarding, and strong communication skills; Cargo Wise (C1) experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience handling ocean export shipments.
• Experience in the freight forwarding industry preferred.
• Knowledge of Cargo Wise (C1) preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fluid work environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate the necessary documentation for ocean export activities.
• Coordinate cargo pickup and monitor status.
• Communicate with export authorities, customers, and suppliers across territories.
• Manage carrier/vendor rates and obtain spot rates as needed.
• Correspond with overseas agents and clients and provide shipment updates.
• Track shipments and inform customers and agents of status.
• Create and maintain customer files.
• Responsible for customer invoicing and payables approval.
• Audit files for accuracy and completeness.
• Interact professionally with coworkers and assist other departments as needed.
