Job summary

Google is seeking a seasoned Network Engineer to advance our global data-center and metro network operations from Reston and other locations. You will support design, deployment, and planning teams to deliver end-to-end connectivity for metro sites and maintain robust documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years experience in telecommunications at carrier scale with optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer2/3 routers, and data services.
• Experience planning/leading network deployments and creating deployment packages and MOPs.

Responsibilities

• Support and participate with Design, Deployment and Planning teams to deliver end-to-end connectivity for assigned metro sites.
• Execute and troubleshoot capacity workflows for edge network devices in new and existing network nodes across Google’s global network.
• Translate common network solutions into standard BOMs and detailed design packages for third parties to execute with minimal oversight.
• Maintain network documentation and implementation plans (DPKs) with technical accuracy during deployment.
• Apply Python scripting to automate workflows, analyze data, and drive process improvements.
