Job summary

Google is seeking a Network Engineer to help design and operate our global, scalable network. You will influence deployment to ensure reliability, performance, and safety of network operations across data centers and metro sites.

The role emphasizes planning network deployments, coordinating with field teams, and automating workflows with Python or similar languages. Exposure to BOMs and design packages is valuable. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience in telecommunications at carrier scale working with optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer2/3 routers, and data services.
• Experience planning/leading network deployments and creating deployment packages and Methods of Procedures (MOP).
• Experience planning and coordinating with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications working environment.

Responsibilities

• Support and participate with Design, Deployment, and Planning teams as needed to deliver end-to-end connectivity for assigned metro sites.
• Execute and troubleshoot capacity workflows for edge network devices in new and existing network nodes across Google's global network.
• Work with Core, Transport, and Edge teams to translate common network solutions into standard Bill Of Materials (BOMs) and detailed design packages for third parties to execute with minimal oversight.
• Manage the creation and maintenance of network documentation and implementation plans (DPKs), ensuring technical accuracy during deployment activities.
• Apply scripting and software development skills (e.g., Python) to automate workflows, perform data analysis, and drive process optimizations within your assigned scope.

Minimum qualifications

• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time may be needed during project peak time.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $150000 - $217000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
