Job summary

Vultr is hiring a Manager, Network Connectivity & Carrier Strategy to own data center connectivity from site assessment to turn-up. You will evaluate fiber and carrier options, negotiate complex agreements, and lead a small team to ensure timely deployment across global sites.

You will partner with engineering and operations, shaping backbone expansion and ensuring diverse, defensible connectivity. Strong carrier negotiation and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in network infrastructure, telecommunications, or data center connectivity.
• Deep knowledge of fiber construction economics, logistics, and timelines.
• Proven ability to piece together complex carrier deals with national/regional carriers.
• Track record building carrier relationships at engineering and executive levels.
• Strong grasp of long-haul and metro transport tech: DWDM, 800/400G, route diversity.
• Willing to travel to carrier meetings, site walks, and construction reviews (up to 25%).

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end site connectivity selection: assessment, requirements, carrier outreach, and turn-up.
• Map regional fiber infrastructure using market tools to determine capabilities and timelines.
• Negotiate MSAs, NDAs, colocation agreements, IRUs, and wavelength contracts.
• Lead engineering sessions to convert concepts into budgets and build timelines.
• Manage and grow a small team of carrier relations professionals and align priorities.
• Advise executives on where to build next based on fiber availability and economics.
• Partner with Network Engineering on connectivity design and with operations on POP turn-up.
• Track carrier performance and refine the engagement playbook for escalation.
