Job summary

ByteDance seeks a graduate or early-career engineer to join the Global Engineering CDN team in Seattle. You will work on a highly available multi-cloud CDN platform that powers TikTok and other products, spanning self-built infrastructure and commercial CDN vendors across regions.

The role offers hands-on experience with large-scale distributed systems, global traffic management, and production operations, focusing on performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or related field.
• Familiar with at least one programming language such as Go, Python, Java, or C/C++.
• Solid foundation in data structures, operating systems, computer networks, and databases.
• Basic understanding of Internet technologies such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, caching, traffic routing, or Linux.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and interest in large-scale traffic systems.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development and optimization of the global Multi-Cloud CDN scheduling platform.
• Build traffic optimization mechanisms across self-built CDN infrastructure and commercial CDN vendors to improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Contribute to cost optimization projects for self-built CDN and multi-cloud CDN traffic.
• Build and improve metrics, monitoring, and analysis tools for resource consumption, origin traffic, bandwidth usage, cache efficiency, service quality, and cost optimization.
• Participate in traffic analysis, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of scheduling stability and traffic efficiency.
