Job summary

Optiver in Chicago seeks a Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer to own and evolve a global platform spanning SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, identity, and mobile access. This role blends hands-on engineering with architectural leadership across distributed teams.

You will drive end-to-end design, governance, automation, and observability, delivering scalable, secure, and reliable collaboration services for our worldwide workforce.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' experience as a senior Microsoft 365 engineer or architect
• Expertise in SharePoint Online platform engineering and Exchange Online mail flow (hybrid)
• Strong identity and access architecture knowledge (Entra ID / Azure AD)
• Proven ability to simplify complex hybrid environments
• PowerShell expertise; experience with Graph, Azure CLI, Terraform, GitHub IaC
• Proficiency with Log Analytics and KQL
• Experience designing and operating Azure resources (policies, subscriptions, VNETs)
• Experience defining MDM/Intune policy for iOS and Android

Responsibilities

• Set direction and design standards for our global Microsoft 365 platform across collaboration, messaging, identity, and device access
• Lead end-to-end architectural decisions — design, peer validation, implementation, rollout and adoption
• Drive systemic simplification, reducing legacy patterns and hybrid complexity
• Define and operate collaboration/content platforms including information architecture, governance, and lifecycle management
• Own enterprise messaging architecture including global mail flow, routing, and coexistence
• Architect identity and access foundations covering authentication models and hybrid integration
• Define and own mobile access architecture for iOS and Android
• Architect the Azure foundations that support Microsoft 365
• Treat observability as non-negotiable — design deep monitoring, alerting, and telemetry
• Own BAU operations including incidents, degradations, change execution, and continuous improvement
• Design, implement, and operate self-healing automation with AI-assisted delivery where appropriate
• Build and maintain production-grade automation using industry-standard tooling
