Job summary

Helmerich and Payne is seeking a seasoned Head of Market Intelligence to lead our global market, commercial and competitive intelligence function. You will translate complex signals into clear perspectives for executives, finance, and commercial teams, shaping strategy and investor communications.

Steeped in rig markets and macro fundamentals, you will build integrated models, dashboards and forecasts, manage external research partners, and drive AI-enabled insights while upholding data quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, engineering, data analytics or related discipline; an advanced degree is advantageous.
• 7–10 years of relevant work experience.
• Deep understanding of rig markets and the drivers of drilling demand, supply, utilization and pricing.
• Knowledge of leading third-party research houses and external provider relationships.
• Ability to develop market forecasts, scenarios and strategic insights from incomplete or fast-changing information.
• Experience supporting senior executives and producing materials for executive leadership and Board audiences.
• Advanced Excel capability, including model development and data integration.
• Advanced PowerPoint and business storytelling skills for professional-grade presentations.
• Strong knowledge of AI-enabled research, synthesis and content-generation tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to engage diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and execution of global market and competitive intelligence aligned with priorities.
• Create and maintain integrated market models, dashboards, forecasts, scenarios and recurring intelligence products.
• Host and lead weekly global commercial intelligence calls and coordinate regional perspectives.
• Organize leadership briefings on market conditions, competitors and risks.
• Build macro house views across priority topics with clear distinctions between facts and judgments.
• Partner with FP&A, Investor Relations, Strategy and operations to embed intelligence in forecasts and decisions.
• Support investor communications with credible market context and competitor analysis.
• Own enterprise portfolio of market-data subscriptions; manage vendors and renewals.
• Maintain relationships with third-party researchers and external networks; validate sources.
• Apply AI and automation to accelerate research while ensuring governance and source validation.
