Job summary

WM in Houston is seeking a Customer Service/Logistics Associate to ensure excellent service through accurate and fast order processing and to coordinate domestic and international movement of waste by-products.

You will be the first contact for inquiries, monitor inventories, arrange freight, track shipments, and collaborate with sales and carriers to meet service goals in a hybrid role requiring office days Mon-Thu and remote Friday.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
• 2 years previous experience in a customer service role.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers to monitor inventories and anticipate production needs; schedule equipment for waste by-products.
• Arrange and negotiate third-party freight costs for timely waste by-product pickups using WM approved carriers.
• Monitor and maintain shipment status via computer system.
• Respond to customer complaints; investigate and resolve shipment issues for vendors and customers.
• Initiate calls to customers to set up deliveries and provide shipment updates; trace deliveries with carriers as needed.
• Review pricing with Sales and Marketing groups.
• Develop relationships with vendors, customers and freight carriers.
• Handle shipment documentation, including export docs for overseas mills.
• Ensure timely invoicing; record and prepare vendor payments; bill freight and charges; issue debits/credits as necessary.
• Resolve downgrades and rejects by negotiating pricing with customers/vendors with account manager approval.
• Coordinate with supervisors to keep informed of issues; maintain morale and efficiency.
• Project a knowledgeable, enthusiastic image reflecting WMRA; participate in meetings.
• Provide feedback on service failures or complaints to supervisor; relay product knowledge requests.
• Meet or exceed call center service and operational goals; collaborate with sales to exceed expectations.
• Perform special projects; support less experienced Customer Service Representatives.
