Job summary

Welocalize in Portland seeks a Tech Linguistic Tester 1 to proofread and edit localized content, catch grammar, typos, punctuation, and style issues, and occasionally translate from English to the target language. You will also check UIs for usability and document defects with our bug-tracking tools, collaborating with teams to maintain quality across software, apps, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Native language fluency and bilingual proficiency in target language.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Experience with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to navigate networks/websites with different browsers.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• 3+ years in translation/localization or QA/testing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Proofread and edit content localized to your native language.
• Identify grammar, typos, syntax, punctuation, and style issues.
• Occasionally translate content from English to the target language.
• Check UIs for usability and functional issues.
• Write and report bugs using internal bug-tracking systems.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure linguistic accuracy and quality.
• Research and resolve linguistic questions as a subject matter expert.
• Follow client glossaries, style guides, and quality standards.
