Confidential Employer in Rochester, NY is seeking an experienced IP leader to own and manage a global patent and IP portfolio. The role involves coordinating with senior leadership, engineers, and outside counsel to protect innovations and shape technology strategy.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in patent prosecution, USPTO registration, and a strong track record in portfolio management. On-site collaboration with leadership and technical teams is required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant patent prosecution or IP portfolio management experience.
• Active USPTO registration as a Patent Agent or Patent Attorney.
• Hands-on experience drafting patent applications and responding to USPTO Office Actions.
• Strong understanding of patent portfolio management and US patent procedures.
• International patent prosecution or PCT filings experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the IP portfolio including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
• Develop and execute IP strategies protecting innovations and enabling growth.
• Draft, file, and prosecute U.S. patent applications and respond to Office Actions.
• Coordinate international filings, PCT applications, and foreign counsel.
• Collaborate with engineers to identify patentable inventions and protect emerging tech.
• Oversee renewals, portfolio maintenance, IP budgets, and enforcement; support licensing and partnerships.
