Job summary

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, a leading global law firm, seeks a Patent Prosecution Specialist for its Intellectual Property Patent Support Unit. The role supports patent prosecution activities, including preparing and filing documents for domestic and international patent applications, and handling related correspondence.

The position offers hybrid in-office/remote work across offices in Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 3–5 years of patent prosecution experience.
• Strong organizational skills to prioritize work and balance multiple projects.
• Ability to work well under pressure and to participate in a team environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficiency in CPI Patent, MS-Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), WorkSite, Adobe Acrobat, Legal MacPac, Outlook, Office Communicator, iManage.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and files documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (e.g., New Patent Applications, IDS, Preliminary Amendments, formalities).
• Prepares client reporting letters and correspondence regarding formalities, Official Actions, Notices of Allowance, and Letters Patent.
• Prepares and files documents related to international and foreign national patent applications and files documents with WIPO International Bureau and foreign offices.
• Analyzes PTO-issued documents for accuracy (filing receipts, assignment docs, certificates of correction, etc.).
• Prepares patent prosecution documents, including transcribing instructions, producing patent applications, correspondence, reports, memoranda, proofreading and redlining, photocopying, assembling and distributing.
