Job summary

The University of Chicago is seeking an Assistant Director, International Human Resources to support HR functions for UChicago Global and international HR operations for its centers in Beijing, Delhi, and Hong Kong.

You will design, implement, and monitor global HR programs, ensure compliance with international labor laws, and collaborate with global teams to align policies and processes, anticipating long-term HR needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5-7 years of work experience in a related HR discipline.
• Familiarity with higher education environment; international HR experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Workday and MS Office.
• Conversational Mandarin a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provides HR support across international regions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and offboarding.
• Ensures compliance with local employment laws and University HR policies.
• Develops, updates and implements HR policies internationally.
• Coordinates with payroll and benefits providers for international employees and reporting.
• Governs HR data and records and supports visa applications/renewals and work permits.
