Job summary

ICF is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to build frontier-model systems for global health and survey programs. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of professional software development experience, including building LLM-powered systems.
• U.S. citizenship is required by federal government contract
• Proficiency in Python or another modern programming language
• Experience with frontier-model APIs and tooling
• Cloud platform experience (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud)
• Experience with agent frameworks and AI evaluation tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design and build LLM pipelines and agents for survey workflows.
• Build evaluation harnesses with ground-truth data and set acceptance criteria.
• Route work across models based on cost, latency, and data residency requirements.
• Manage inference cost, token usage, and batch processing for model selection.
• Connect models to data services and to full-stack applications.
• Use agentic coding tools to produce and own production code.
• Monitor production systems and document methods and results for public release.
