Job summary

The Wadhwani Foundation is seeking an inaugural Vice President & General Counsel to lead global legal strategy and governance for its U.S. and international operations. Remote-first with preference for candidates near the San Francisco Bay Area, and regular domestic and international travel.

The role offers a salary range of $300,000–$350,000 per year plus a 25% bonus and comprehensive benefits, reporting to the CEO with direct interaction with boards and senior leaders.

Qualifications

Seasoned, entrepreneurial legal executive with deep expertise in nonprofit and foundation law, governance, cross-border philanthropy, commercial agreements, and regulatory compliance.
Experience in technology, IP, data privacy, and complex international partnerships is ideal.
Strong judgment, executive presence, and pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach are essential.

Responsibilities

Serve as chief legal advisor to WOF and WCF, providing strategic leadership across governance, contracts, IP, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and enterprise risk.
Develop and implement the legal strategy and governance framework for both foundations.
Lead external counsel relationships, disputes, and regulatory inquiries; manage the legal team.
