Job summary

UMass Amherst is seeking a Workforce Compliance Specialist in the Office of Human Resources. You will administer employment eligibility verification (I-9) and E-Verify, coordinate international employment processing, and manage related tax compliance activities.

The role requires strong analytical skills and a commitment to accurate, timely processing. You will monitor compliance, maintain systems, perform data audits, and support process improvements while collaborating with Payroll,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with related experience per minimum qualifications
  • Experience administering Form I-9 and E-Verify or ability to gain proficiency quickly
  • Knowledge of employment authorization documentation and federal requirements
  • Experience using HR systems and Microsoft Office
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and confidentiality

Responsibilities

  • Administer I-9 process for faculty, staff, students, and others
  • Coordinate international employment processing and documentation
  • Administer international employment tax system and coordinate with Payroll
  • Conduct routine compliance audits and maintain data reporting
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to HR staff and departments
