Job summary

SMC is seeking a Global IT Data Center Engineer to ensure infrastructure availability, performance, and uptime across campus and remote locations. You will operate within an advanced engineering team, deploying servers, virtualization and storage, and supporting backup and disaster recovery operations.

The role requires 5+ years in enterprise networking, strong VMware vSphere experience, and hands-on data protection with Rubrik and Dell EMC solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in IT enterprise networking and data center operations.
• Experience with VMware vSphere 7+ in production environments across multi-site deployments.
• Experience deploying and managing backup and data protection platforms (Rubrik, Dell PowerProtect, Avamar, Data Domain).
• Proficient with Windows Server (2012+), Active Directory, GPOs, SCCM, O365, and security policies.
• Experience with public cloud services and networking fundamentals; familiarity with Okta/PAM MFA.
• Ability to travel and work across facilities as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure data center infrastructure availability, performance, and uptime.
• Deploy and manage servers and virtual environments (VMware, Windows, Linux).
• Support data protection, disaster recovery, and backup operations.
• Maintain security, standards, and documentation for IT infrastructure.
• Collaborate with IT teams and business units to meet uptime requirements.
