Our client is looking for an experienced Data Center Engineer with strong technical expertise, leadership qualities, and excellent communication skills. You will lead the architecture, design, and implementation of on-premises infrastructure and data center solutions. The ideal candidate has deep experience with virtualization platforms, storage technologies, automation tools, and the ability to collaborate effectively across both business and IT teams.
This role is critical in driving modernization across compute, virtualization, storage, and automation platforms, ensuring the environment remains resilient, scalable, and secure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support data center infrastructure, including Cisco HX/UCS, Nutanix HCI, VMware vSphere/vSAN, and Cohesity.
- Lead infrastructure modernization, automation initiatives, and disaster recovery projects.
- Automate provisioning and configuration with tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.
- Administer Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL) and Windows Server environments, ensuring uptime, performance, and compliance.
- Manage DNS, DHCP, IPAM; collaborate with network teams on routing, switching, and firewall configurations.
- Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and root‑cause analysis.
- Create and maintain SOPs, documentation, and runbooks.
- Travel as needed for data center deployments and operational support.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
Qualifications
Required
- 7+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or data center operations.
- Expert‑level knowledge of Cisco HX/UCS, VMware vSphere, Nutanix HCI, and Cohesity.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Linux (Ubuntu/RHEL) and Windows Server.
- Hands‑on experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Puppet.
- Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and firewalls.
- Scripting ability in Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- Proven leadership, cross‑team communication, and project delivery skills.
- Willingness to relocate to one of the designated offices prior to full‑time hiring.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes, change management, and monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Prometheus).
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and exposure to cloud technologies (AWS, Azure).
