Job summary

WD-40 Company is seeking a senior data and analytics leader to drive enterprise data strategy and platform governance. You will unite finance, sales, marketing, and operations to define data ownership and trust, while guiding a global team responsible for AI-enabled decision-making.

The role focuses on building a scalable data and analytics architecture, controlling cloud spend, and partnering with business leaders to deliver high-value outcomes. Hybrid work in San Diego is available.

Qualifications

• Experience leading data and analytics, BI or data engineering teams, including architects and engineers.
• 7+ years in that within 12+ years of progressive IT and business leadership.
• Proven track record getting business leaders to agree on data governance: definitions, owners, stewards.
• Experience with modern cloud data platforms. Microsoft Fabric is strongly preferred.
• Global experience across countries and regulations (GDPR, data sovereignty). 5+ years preferred.
• AI fluency to guide a team building for AI agents and explain it to business leaders.
• Experience owning a budget and negotiating with vendors.
• Public company experience is a strong plus. D365 experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Be the data champion and align finance, sales, marketing and operations on data ownership and meaning.
• Lead and coach the Architect and Manager of the data team to move from tickets to projects.
• Build for AI now by shaping a governed Microsoft Fabric platform with security and guardrails.
• Set the 3–5 year data and analytics roadmap aligned to business priorities.
• Lead the business side: manage budget, negotiate with vendors, and build stakeholder relationships.
• Ensure governance and compliance across GDPR, CCPA and data sovereignty rules.
