Job summary

DHL Express is seeking a qualified Customs Entry Agent in the United States to ensure compliance with federal regulations for imported goods. You will process entries, compute tariffs, and review invoices and shipping papers to obtain clearance and resolve delays.

Key responsibilities include classifying shipments, communicating with origins/destinations, and obtaining permits. Candidates should have a high school diploma, one year of related experience, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
• Overtime is required.
• 1 year experience in transportation or customs preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Good oral and written communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Participates in planning and directing the flow of traffic to/from foreign destinations.
• Effectively classifies dutiable import/export shipments to ensure compliance with government rules.
• Processes all requests for extensions, expiration, cancellation and government entries.
• Communicates with origin and destination locations regarding shipment status and handling processes.
• Applies for Import/Export Permits and Certificates of Eligibility.
• Maintains open line of communication with department of foreign affairs.
• Examines documents to determine Harmonized Tariff Code for correct classification.
• Knowledge of US Customs Regulations and trade agreements.
• Must be detail oriented, organized, and manage time effectively.
• Process shipments through portals for FDA and US Customs clearance
